Initially I thought it was some of the typical company celebrations, but instinctively I looked at the address bar to see that the connection was https.

It seems that the boys of Mountain view have in mind to ensure the privacy of our searches although for now, and as indicated on their own website, this functionality will only be allowed with the search engine, leaving the rest of the services (Reader, Images, …) unsupported.
